Travel with us|Things to DO in Canterbury

ENG: Travel. This is my favorite series. I am in love with traveling, and I really think this is what we get at the end. What we see is our only treasure. Since I moved into the United Kingdom, I discovered such breathtaking places. Ok. Perhaps, the temperature isn`t perfect. So what? You can`t have it all. Back home, during winter, there were -30°C and during summer +35°C. Here, you only have to deal with 4°C during winter and 20+°C during summer. It`s a beautiful, beautiful place.

I love living here, among this vintage buildings, and fancy people who are so polite and always in a good mood. I love being asked how my day was so far, or where did I get my coat from by random people on the street, although it`s the first time we ever meet.

I told you before, I will try to show you as many beautiful places as I can, places you can visit if you get the chance to come here. We use to do something special every weekend, either a nice dinner at an Italian restaurant, a visit in a historic English small town, or a contemplative walk by the sea. In our case, we have the English Channel. When we go to the sea, it seems like all my lost energy comes back to me. I must say, I found some interesting places in here. But I will tell you about that in a future blog post. Today I want to share with you my experience in Canterbury, an amazing place I found searching through boards on Pinterest.

It praise to be one of the most visited towns in Great Britain. I can understand why, it`s so eye-catching, with its marvelous channels of the River Stour, that compels you to take a boat tour, the historical buildings, built with impressive details, all in a perfect condition, and the center-piece of the city: the Cathedral, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988, which lies at the heart of the city. At the end, the entire city is a tourist attraction and we felt like part of a story with a well written scenario.

If you google search Canterbury you will find out that this city is a local government district of Kent in the United Kingdom. It lies on the River Stour and the economy is heavily reliant upon tourism. There is also a substantial student population, brought about by the presence of the University of Kent, Canterbury Christ Church University, and the University for the Creative Arts. Canterbury remains, however, a relatively small city in terms of geographical size, when compared with other British cities.

Things to visit/do here:

Gulbenkian Theatre, Canterbury Ghost Tour, Romantic River Tour, The Marlowe Theatre, The Norman Castle, The Heritage Museum, Herne Bay coast, Whitstable coast, Theatre in the park, The Canterbury Tales, The Beaney House of Art and Knowledge, Westgate tours, The Roman Museum and many many others.

RO: Seria Travel e favorita mea. De cand m-am mutat in Regatul Unit am descoperit multe locuri absolut breathtaking. Ok, mai ploua din cand in cand. E frumos.

Wooow, indeed!

Ce mai puteti vizita/face aici?

  1. Oh, the things we miss out on when we travel… Wish I would have gone to Canterbury. My favorite pic is the little umbrellas everywhere – oh and the library. How cool is that?

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Oh, thank you for your kind words. If you have the chance, you should definetly go. It’s amazing and you have to choose from many things to do. There’s even a coast, and seaside-Herne Bay. I will post about it in my next post, so stay tuned. Kissez
