Darwin Brasserie|Sky Garden, London, UK
It is Friday. And Friday is all about good food, tasty wines, hanging out and great places. A great Friday for me means, first of all, a breath-taking place. I love to discover new spots everywhere I go, and London…oh, London, is an amazing place to do that.
We love to be impressed by places, connect with people and take random photos of each and every detail. We love to be spoilt (who doesn`t?) so we decide to go to the place with the most spectacular views of London. Thank you Sky Garden for the chance.
Nicknamed The Walkie Talkie, the building that hosts the Sky Garden is really impressive. It is designed as a viewing platform where you can connect with the city and feel its vibrancy.
We enter the controversial building and after a routine check (felt secure, similar with being into an airport) we are leaded straight to 35th floor. We step outside the elevator and the SPECTACULAR view reveals. It is quite unlike any other panorama in the city, sitting right at the centre of it all. This is, for sure, the restaurant which provides the best aerial vista of London. This place is like an invitation to behold the skyline of London and looks like a fancy crystal palace in the clouds.
At the centre of the space are restaurant concepts that climb progressively. The whole of London spreads out below.
The famous enlarged glass dome is dedicated to three storeys of exquisitely landscaped public gardens and London’s most exclusive social spaces, including observation decks and an open air terrace.
The Sky Garden is a unique public space that offers 360 degree uninterrupted views across the City of London. Visitors can wander around the exquisitely landscaped gardens, observation decks and an open air terrace of what is London’s highest public garden.
The Sky Garden has been designed to create an open and vibrant place of leisure, offering visitors a rare chance to experience London from a different viewpoint.
The entry to the Sky Garden is free, but the places are very limited and must be booked online in advance through the site.
The designers opted for a series of richly planted terraces for Sky Garden and the planting is dominated by drought resistant Mediterranean and South African species. Individual plants have been chosen to work in harmony with the particular quality of light found under the roof canopy. Colour and flowers flourish all year round in the Sky Garden.
We enter the bottom restaurant – DARWIN Brasserie and the waiter leads us to our table. He brings us the menu and afterwards, the glasses of wine.
How I feel? Like being part of a fancy movie with a great scenario. All the waiters have wireless headphones and are so concerned to make you feel an important person. Customer care at its best!
The boy with the headphones pours some white wine into the glasses, and then, takes the bottle to the fridge to keep it at its perfect temperature. He always checks if we have the right amount of wine in the glasses. After we finish the main course, a dessert draws my attention. A chocolate mousse with an edible gold leaf is a delight for my taste buds at its finest ❤
Gabriel is ordering a coffee and we ask for the bill. Two candies come with the check. Sweet, isn`t it?
Tomorrow we are going to the top restaurant of Sky Garden- FENCHURCH to have a lunch and enjoy the view in daylight, so stay tuned!
