Hello beautiful people,
I am struggling with this blog post for few months now. Why? Because the photo shooting and everything is ready since summer. But no, I don`t want to just show you some products I use, I want you to learn something from reading my blog.
Everybody knows how harmful can be the sun during summer time, and we all use sunscreen (or, at least, we should), but do we all know how IMPORTANT is to use it during winter season? You may tend to ease up on applying sunscreen now that cooler weather has arrived and you won’t be basking in the sunshine.
Applying sunscreen should never be restricted to summer alone. Summer or winter, monsoon or spring, the need for shielding your skin from the harsh rays of the sun is essential. And, sunscreen does that job for you.
Did you know sun damage is cumulative? Every day that you don’t protect your skin is another day that increased your risk of developing skin cancer. So keep wearing that sunscreen this winter.
Guys, I really want you to understand how important it is to use sunscreen daily and here are the reasons why:
- Your perceived intensity of the sun does not indicate your sun exposure
There are two kinds of ultraviolet rays emitted from the sun: UVA and UVB. UVB rays are the ones that cause sunburn and their intensity varies from summer to winter. However, UVA rays have the same intensity during summer or winter. UVA rays are the ones that penetrate deeper in your skin and can cause skin aging and skin cancer to occur. UVA damage is not reversible. Wearing sunscreen can protect you from exposure to these rays.
- Just because it is cloudy outside, that doesn’t mean you are not getting exposed to UV rays
Up to 80 percent of the sun’s UV rays can pass through clouds; this is how people end up getting sunburn on cloudy days when they have been outside without sunscreen.
Also, reflection of radiation from snow requires aggressive sunscreen protection, maybe even more than summertime as individuals participate in snow activities like skiing and snowboarding. Even though there are plenty of winter layers to keep you warm (and covered), don’t forget to keep your face, neck, and hands protected from the sun’s harmful rays.
- The sun attacks the skin’s elastin, weakening the skin from springing back, and causing wrinkled and leathery skin. During the winter, look out for any rough, red skin, an increase in molesand broken blood vessels on the face to detect sun damage.
- There’s a thinner ozone layer
The colder seasons mean the ozone layer is thinning out. So, there is less ozone in our atmosphere to absorb the sun’s UV radiation. Even though it feels colder outside, there’s actually more of the sun’s harmful rays hitting the earth’s surface and, yes, your skin. Prevent getting a cold-weather burn by using a product with SPF 30 or more.
- Prevents Premature Aging
All of us love to have younger looking, radiant, and healthy skin. And, this is one of the most convincing reasons to start using sunscreen. It shields your skin from developing signs of aging, such as wrinkles and fine lines.
Fact: Studies reveal that people below the age of 55 who used sunscreen had 24% lesser chances of developing these aging signs than non-sunscreen and occasional sunscreen users.
